Please wear loose-fitting clothing. You’ll need to be able to pull your waistband down on one side (to about mid-thigh) and lift your shirt to mid-chest (roughly the level of a bra line). No need to disrobe completely — modesty is always respected.

Unlike DEXA, which is typically repeated every 2 years, REMS has no radiation, allowing for more frequent monitoring. If you’re tracking changes, you may opt to scan every 6–12 months. Most people find annual scans to be ideal.
As of January 2024, REMS has been assigned CPT code 0815T by the AMA and CMS, which allows for potential insurance reimbursement for bone density studies and fracture-risk assessments. However, since 0815T is a Category III code (for emerging technologies), coverage is not guaranteed and varies by insurer. At True Bone Density, we require full payment upfront and do not handle insurance billing or submissions. Patients interested in reimbursement may request a receipt and submit it to their insurance provider independently
